Middlesex Eye Physicians is now hiring a Licensed Optician for our Middletown location.

Primary role

• This is a full-time for a licensed Optician with an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for eye care.
• Our practice has 8 physicians in 4 locations with well-established optical shops in Middletown and East Haven.This role specifically is for the Middletown office.
• The optician will assist patients in selecting eyewear lens ordering repairs and adjustments
• Participate with management in frame inventory selection and inventory management.
• Lens edging experience a plus but not a requirement.
• In-house training will be provided.

Professional Responsibilities include:

• Collaborates professionally and effectively with peer opticians optometrists and ophthalmologists in the practice.
• Demonstrates high quality and accuracy in sales optical measurement fitting and delivery of eyeglasses and contact lenses to meet the customers prescription preferences and budget.
• Builds strong customer relationships and a customer following.
• Maintains a keen focus on inventory controls.

Must hold an active Optician license in Connecticut and be in good standing.

Job Type: Full-time

What We’re Looking For:
A licensed optician who is comfortable and proficient with fitting NEW contact lens patients with different types of contact lenses, soft toric, multifocal. No eyewear dispensing required.

Someone who can adapt and is excited to learn new technologies and techniques.
Prior experience in an optometry or ophthalmology practice is a plus
Someone who can help optimize patient flow and ensure a smooth and efficient clinic experience.

Requirements:
Minimum: Licensed Optician (passed ABO/NCLEC)
Prior experience in an optometry or ophthalmology setting is preferred but not required
Comfortable with ophthalmic equipment and assisting with telemedicine procedures.
