General Job Description & Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that all patients are receiving the best quality of care at all times. Primary responsibilities include:
- Review Physician’s prescriptions and orders based on medical charts
- Educate patients on their corrective lens options and help them make a choice that fits their medical needs as well as lifestyle preferences
- Provide honest but compassionate feedback about aesthetic choices in frames
- Achieve sales goals and quotas as determined by office staff while attending to patients’ specific needs and desires
- Manage inventory of frames and contact lenses to ensure optimum customer satisfaction and product variety
- Communicate with physician with questions or concerns about prescriptions and other eye-related issues
Experience & Skills
Excellent customer service skills and personal presentation are critical to this role. The ideal candidate will have 0-3 years of experience and:
- ABO Certified preferred but not required
- Possess current licensure as an Optician preferred but not required
- Have good organizational and multitasking abilities
- Be coachable-open to feedback and continual improvement
- Flexible and adaptable
- Professional phone and office etiquette required
- Optical experience is preferred but not necessary-we will train the right person

We recently lost our longtime optical manager due to some family obligations which will keep her out of work long term. Pay range will vary based on several factors: $30-$60/hr

Stamford Ophthalmology is seeking a
licensed Optician with an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for
eye care. We are a 6-doctor practice with a well-established Optical
Shop and loyal patients. We have a vast patient demographic and thus
a dynamic work environment.
Responsibilities include assisting
patients in selecting eyewear lens ordering (Visionweb and Nassau)
repairs and adjustments frame ordering/frame board management
communicating effectively with office staff and doctors to provide
the best patient care. We have an in-house lab with new Santinelli
equipment. Lens edging experience a plus but not a requirement.
Training is available. We take Eyemed insurance but are otherwise
self-pay only. This is currently a single Optician practice so we
are looking for a candidate who is a self-starter. On-the-job
training and assistance in taking over the shop will be
provided.
Would be open to hearing from non-licensed optical employees with at least 1 year optical selling experience.
